Cognito
Cognito has been delivering corporate mobile data solutions since 1992. Originally a mobile data network operator, it was the first company in the UK to be awarded a licence to operate a public radio network for data. When that first proprietary network had served its purpose, Cognito transferred its final proprietary network customer onto the new generation GPRS service, and switched off the old Cognito mobile data network in Jan 2003.
That means Cognito has a longer history in mobile than most - so when designing, implementing, and delivering the new generation of full GPRS ‘push and pull’ mobile data solutions, there was a strong foundation to draw on, in particular, an understanding of mobile data technology and business user requirements.
Today Cognito delivers a managed service, which enables organisations to enhance mobile worker productivity and control, through the exchange of time sensitive business critical information. The solution removes the distraction, hassle and cost of monitoring and supporting your mobile data solution in the field, by providing 24-hour management of network communications and business hours direct support for the mobile workers.
Key market sectors with mobile data technology include Service and Facilities Management, Couriers, Utilities, and Public Sector local authorities.
The solution provides fully managed mobile workflow services to major blue chips and SMEs throughout the UK. Subscribers use the GPRS/GSM - and more recently 3G - networks of Cognito’s UK network operator partners, Vodafone, O2, T-Mobile, and Orange, for sending and receiving time sensitive, business critical information.
Customers number over 100 and include blue chip and medium size organisations throughout the UK. Some of the companies who trust Cognito to manage their mobile data services are Fuji, Konica, Kraft Foods, London Bus Services, Siemens and Transco.
The Cognito service can be rolled out using a range of devices to suit individual organisation requirements, including such PDA’s as the XDA 2 and both ruggedised and normal laptops.
